BCRF Spring Gala

Last night was the 16th Annual BCRF Spring Gala. Every year Elizabeth Hurley joins Evelyn Lauder in her endeavor to raise awareness and money for Breast Cancer research. This was the 10th year that Sir Elton John has come to play and Bette Midler came to read the Mayor's Proclamation declaring it Sir Elton John Day in NYC. Then Mrs Lauder surprised Sir Elton with a $100,000 donation made by John Demsey on behalf of Mac toward Sir Eltons own foundation. Sir Elton looked really surprised as Liz Hurley grinned at him with that big smile of hers. As always I was lucky enough to be on the stage and after Sir John finished singing I had to scramble to get a shot of them all.
This year there were lots of pink dresses and other bright colors. Here are a few of my favorites.

The Henry Ford Estate Dinner 2010

On Saturday I flew to Detroit to photograph the Henry Ford Estate Dinner. This has become an annual event on my calendar that I look forward to every year. As always Edsel and Cynthia Ford lit up the room when they arrived. This year the gala sold out way in advance and they raised over $350,000. Tiffany and Co added a little sparkle to the event and the 3 ladies who got to wear the jewels shone. You can see them in their diamonds in the photos and many thanks to Breon for organizing me to cover the event. After cocktails the guests were led to the ballroom by a fife and drum. American Museum of Natural History Spring Ball

Yesterday was a very busy day. After photographing the lunch for the Studio Museum I ran across town to location scout for Town and Country for a portrait I have to do next week then I ran back to my office, changed my cameras and clothes and headed back up town to the American Museum of Natural History. Spring has now really sprung and the black and dark colors of winter are hidden in the back of every one's closets.
It was amazing to walk into the foyer and find it lit with color and light as the bones of dinosaurs loomed above and then to go to the Ocean Room for dinner where the Whale lives.

The Studio Museum Lunch 2010

Every April the first event for me that starts the Spring Season is the Studio Museum in Harlem Luncheon. I got a call early from Melissa Feldman from MF Productions to make sure I could be at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel to capture all the wonderful women who contribute so much to the Museum and the educational programs.
Thelma Golden introduced Artist Kehinde Wiley who was honored this year. All of the guests received 2 photographs from students who have been part of the program.

Last night was the opening of Armida at the Metropolitan Opera and as expected the crowd was decked out. Yves Saint Laurent sponsored the event. The guests included Julianna Margulies, Jennifer Morrison, Chloe Sevigny, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Fabiola Beracasa, Patricia Clarkson, Christine Baranski, Jennifer Morrison,John Lithgow, Emily Mortimer, Ginnifer Goodwin and Mercedes Bass with her Husband Sid and Marie Josee and Henry Kravis. I got to see the first act. It was really amazing. How voices can fill the space is just unbelievable to me. The gala guests arrived at 6 and had the most yummy dinner that started with a lobster and avocado salad followed with beef and foie gras. They then went into the opera and at intermission they returned to their tables on the Grand Tier for a chocolate dessert. Thanks to all the team at the Met. I love working with you all.

Michael Greenberg Band played to standing room only at the Bitter End

Last night the house was packed at 10pm to see and hear the guys from Boston. Yes Michael Greenberg was in town with his band. Lucky for me I know Jake Cohen his drummer so my name was on the list and they squeezed me in. I can never go anywhere with out my camera so I crawled as close as I could without actually getting on the stage! Great show and look forward to hearing more.

Rescue Ink

Last night I found myself at the Auto Show at the Javits Center. The very first person I saw was Justin Green whose wedding I shot 2 years ago. He was all excited because he had invited the guys from Rescue Inc. Of course silly me had no idea who he was talking about but it did not take me long to figure it out. There mingling with the socialites were these big biker guys with lots of tattoos! Anyone who knows me well knows that I am fascinated by them so I had to go talk to the guys.
So if you are like me and don't watch too much TV it seems they have a show and are famous. But actually before the show they had decided to go rescue animals in bad situations. Now it is reality TV.
Johnny O explained what they do then showed me his latest tattoo. He thought about taking off his shirt to show me more on his back but I think I may have fainted so luckily he didn't. All the guys were only too happy to have me take their photo. They have a website www.rescueink.org GOOD LUCK GUYS!!! It was fun meeting you all

Daily News

A few weeks ago Sarah Yang called me to tell me that the Daily News was starting a page on weddings and she asked me if any if I had any great couples who would share their story with her. Emily and Ventura jumped to mind. Their wedding last fall was so much fun. With the help of James Abel from James Abel Events they had a really fabulous day that started with a walk in Central Park
