The New York Botanical Garden’s Annual Winter Wonderland Ball presented by Etro and Saks Fifth Ave

Last Friday was The New York Botanical Garden’s Annual Winter Wonderland Ball presented by Etro and Saks Fifth Ave out in the Bronx. With the snow falling and the temperature dropping to below freezing a brave 500 black tie, and glamours gowned guests found their way to the Bronx for a wonderful evening that raised over $300,000 for the NYBG Children's Education Program. As always I jumped on Metro North and enjoyed an empty train and no hassles on the quick 30 minute ride. Wearing snow boots it was an adventure tracking through the snow up to the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory. Some of the guests didn't have it quite so easily. Traffic from the city was bad and the drive took up to 2 hours for some.
The first to arrive was Georgina Bloomberg and I was so excited to see her with Lili and Howard Buffett who I have not seen since I photographed their wedding in Omaha a few years ago.
It is always fun running into Charles Rockefeller who I had to remind still had a bag sitting in my closet that he left by mistake when he had come for a dinner celebration a while back. Gillian Hearst looked beautiful as always and her husband hamed it up for the camera. It was really great to see Alexandra Lebenthal and her family there. As always she and her charming husband gave me a Diamond dip on the dance floor much to my happiness. She says now that here daughter has started to attend the event it is time to stop attending but I say why not one more year!!!
I had so much fun photographing the dancing and the guests really had a great time. It was fun to see Zack Thain and his lovely girlfriend Karly Fitzgerald.

The 2017 Animal Medical Center Top Dog Gala

Last night was the AMC Top Dog Gala at Cipriani 42nd Street. What an amazing night it was raising money for the Animal Medical Center and Honoring Georgina Bloomberg with The Brooke Astor Award along with 3 canine honorees who happily barked and wagged their tails much to the delight of everyone.
I have been binge watching The Crown and so it was with great interest that  I found myself in such an elegant and gorgeous space with such a well dressed celebrating crowd.
David Monn transformed the space with hanging balloons and bark topiaries that were 15 feet tall. On each table was a sculptured dog covered in silk rope that could be taken home with a donation to AMC. It was fun at the end of the night watching the center pieces finding new owners.
Mrs Kissinger looked stunning in all black. While Lisa Schiff was deep in conversation with Clive Davis her husband David was on the dance floor spinning Kathie Lee Gifford in her 6 inch heels.
Ina Garten was greeted by an eager guest who told Ina she was a big fan.
Dogs barked, people laughed and the food was delicious. Mary Hilliard and I got a table of our own and we sat and ate quickly and caught up while the guests were being served. Then we both raced out to photograph the awards and then the guests once the tables were cleared.

The New York Conservancy Belvedere Ball In Central Park

Last night was the Central Park Conservancy's Belvedere Ball in Central Park.
It was a busy night for me.
I was shooting another event earlier so the dinner was nearly finishing when I finally got there and the young guests were arriving for late cocktails and dancing. It was one of those magic nights when adults of all ages came together in celebration of New York's greatest treasure, Central Park. Who does not love this amazing place where one can stroll, jog, sit under a tree on on a great lawn, skate in winter, swim in summer......... If you know me well you know I don't like to travel in August because I swim twice a day in Lasker Pool. There are a myriad of other activities that take place in the park and thanks to the Conservancy

The 20th FARE Gala at The Pierre Hotel in New York City

Last night was the 20th Annual FARE Ball to help raise funds and awareness for children and adults with food allergies.
I was so excited that Sharon Mann was receiving the Founders Award for all her hard work. I still remember the first time we meet with Mary Kennedy and her passion that was the driving force behind this annual event.
Charles Masson received the Lifetime Achievement Award for his commitment to excellence and compassion for diners with food allergies. I have been lucky enough to have worked with Charles photographing and documenting his life with both food and flowers and one of my portraits of him at Majorelle was used on the menu. It was great to see him there with his beautiful wife Christina and his talented artist son Charlie.
Walt Disney Parks and Restoration received the award as Corporate Dinner Honoree for their work in making sure children with allergies are taken special care of at all the parks food concessions and restaurants.
There was also a shout out to 20 of the people who have had the most impact on Fare and they all took to the stage to be acknowledged. UNICEF Snowflake Ball 2017 at Cipriani Wall Street

On Tuesday November 28th 2017 th 13th Annual UNICEF Snowflake Ball took place at the glamorous Cipriani Wall Street in NY where Emmy Award-winning and Grammy Award-nominated musician, actor and television host Harry Connick Jr hosted the evening.
This years honorees included Carol Hamilton who is the Group President of L'Oreal Luxe USA and Lucy Meyers who won everyones heart. Lucy is a 5 time Special Olympics Medal-winning swimmer who talked about the importance of looking after children with special needs.
For more information on UNICEF does please go to their website on this link UNICEF

I always love seeing friends and this year was no exception to the long list of guests and clients who stopped to say hello as I took their photos. Among them were the always glamorous Hillary Gumbel, the tireless and fabulous Gillian Miniter and her husband Silvester, Kate Murphy and her group of friends who happily stood up to be photographed at their table, The extraordinary Event Planner Mary Blum was for once not working and looked totally gorgeous. She was siting at one of Mindy Grossmans tables with my favorite DJ and fellow Bali adventuress Marjorie Gubelman. We both lamented the state of Mount Agung, the volcano that is currently keeping everyone on high alert in Bali and closing the airport nearly daily. It was great to see Gillian Hearst and we had a 3 second chat when I took her photo with some of her friends.
Diana Ross was the head line artist but sadly she requested no photos so I got to watch the concert while everyone around me went wild with their smart phone.

DIA Fall Night

Last night was the Dia Fall Night where friends, Artists, Curators, and philanthropist rubbed shoulder  viewing the Art and then enjoying an amazing dinner at ArtBeam. The room designed by the awesome duo of Cait and Jules was simple and stunning. The waiters from Olivier Cheng walked beteween the tables as if they were on a runway, so well choreographed as they delivered the steamed fish that had to be opened from its wrapping with a pair of scissors infront of each guest. After dinner dessert was served in the space that had been used for cocktails so the crowd was able to walk around and mingle with everyone.

The Studio Museum in Harlem Fall Gala 2017

Last night was one of my most look forward to events of the year, The studio Museum in Harlem's Fall Gala at Cipriani Wall Street.
Why do I love it so much?
It is the people starting with Thelma Golden the Museums Director and Chief Curator and Raymond McGuire the Chairman, Gala Chairs, Katherine C. Chenault, Carol Sutton Lewis, Jacqueline Bradley, Dr. Amelia Ogunlesi and the evenings honoree, Sir David Adjaye. Add to it the most vivacious, well dressed, happy supportive and excited crowd of guests and there you have why no one sits down and then the dance floor becomes packed.
Raymond announced that the gala had raised over $2.3 million  and then told the room one of his famous jokes. You had to be there to hear it but lets just say it was a good one!
I was so happy to see old friends and new and to get to run around and photograph everyone.
